These forums are for kids, teachers and anyone else to discuss books, reading, writing, martial arts in literature and the Samurai Kids series by children's author Sandy Fussell
To ensure all posts are not offensive and to ensure all members understand what is written only English is acceptable. In discussing Eastern culture some foreign words or terms may be necessary, however, if they are not defined in the Samurai Kids books, then a definition should also be given.
Please refrain from one or two word responses that have no real meaning or do not add value to a comment. For example, it may be valid to say 'that's great' to encourage someone, but a string of twenty 'yay, yay, yays' across the page can be irritating to other forum members.
There may be places for offensive or abusive language but this forum is not one of those. This forum is aimed at people of all ages, but mostly young people, so the language should be appropriate for anyone. We realise that you may be from different backgrounds and experiences, so to help in deciding whether a word or term may be acceptable consider whether you would use it with your mother, grandmother, religious adviser, and headmaster, if you think it may offend any of them, then it may offend the members or management here and shouldn’t be used. Offensive language includes abbreviations, changes in spelling of words, offensive words or terms in other languages, and self censorship (replacing one or more letters in a word with another character).
You do not have to agree with everything, or anything, another member says. However, if you post a response it should only disagree with their opinion or argument not be an attack on them personally. For example, if someone says “I think Nezume could beat Ki-Yaga in a fight.”, an unacceptable way of responding would be, “You’re an idiot, there is no way Nezume could win.” an appropriate way of responding might be “I disagree, having run a school for samurai for many years, and having beat the Dragon Master in a contest, Ki-Yaga would be far more skilful than Nezume, who is only a student.” The acceptable response attacks the original poster’s argument not the poster as a person.
Report them to the management team, but do not otherwise respond. If necessary we will take appropriate action, which may include banning the offending member.
Any advertising, other than of Sandy Fussell's books, is strictly prohibited in this forum. Any post, signature, or profile entry, deemed by any member of the Management Team to be advertising may be edited or deleted and could result in a permanent ban for the poster of that advertising.
